Nanny Background Checks

In this day and age it is important to take extreme caution when considering a person to watch your children. Regardless of how well you know the person or how long you know the person, a background check must be performed. Good news is you can do it yourself.

I would recommend you visit my background check resource at www.anonrecovery.com/detective once you have read the entire article.

Give yourself peace of mind by knowing that you are leaving your children in trustworthy hands by performing a nanny check or nanny background check.Nanny background checks should include all of the following:

Current address- This is an easy one. You want to make sure the nanny is atl least truthful enough to be honest about this. This is the easiest step in the background check. Simply enter the address into a reverse phone directory- just search google. They are free. If it is not listed, look at the driver’s license. It should be there.
Current phone- Ask the candidate their phone numbers-you need them anyway. No in depth background check needed

20yr. address history- This may seem difficult ,but it is an easy background check to run. I recommend the program located at www.anonrecovery.com/detective This will be super easy to do from there, as well as complete the rest of the steps involved.

Birth date- This information is easy to get. It will be listed on their driver’s license. You can also request they give you a copy of their birth certificate. Treat this as a job application!

Aliases / maiden names- OK, legally you can’t ask some one if they are married when interviewing them for a job. You can ask if they have any aliases or other names used in the past. Avoid asking for maiden names.

Property ownership- You want to know how stable this person is. This is pretty easy. Remember, you have a 20 year address history. You can check records from the county of that property to see if their name appears on any property in those counties, It will also show you if there are any leans on the home from past judgments. Try to search for the actual tax assessor’s office. Make sure it is the actual office not a website trying to gwt you to pay. Some state’s have this listed. If not, I will give you my resource at the end of this article.

Bankruptcies- Bankruptcies are public information. Can be found pretty easy. Try PACER.

Tax liens & judgments- Using the 20 year address history you can run a background check for judgments, lawsuits, on your prospective nanny. If searching for yourself. Make sure you are looking at a State’s actual website. Look for the .gov extension. Nationwide criminal check- This is a no brainer! You don’t want a criminal watching your children. Again, use the address history to check the background.

Sexual offender database search- Another no brainer. This info can be found totally free by searching google.

I hope these steps lead you in the right direction in narrowing down your nanny search. Background checks are extremely important. Take these steps and use the resource at www.anonrecovery.com/detective and you will save yourself $100’s in private investigation fees.
